Recently, I had the honor of providing music for Taylor and Kyle’s wedding ceremony and reception held at the historic Waveny House. This New Canaan wedding venue is nestled inside of the historic Waveny Park.
This was a very very packed venue for 150, so I don’t recommend bringing this many guests for Waveny House. A better sweet spot would be 80-100, but we were able to make it work by clearing out a few tables for dancing once dinner wrapped up. Now you don’t want to remove grandma’s chair halfway through the reception, so you’d be best off seating your youngest most dancey guests at the soon to disappear dance floor tables!
The ceremony took place in the rose garden, with Taylor walking down the aisle to a piano version of “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” They sealed their vows with a kiss to the upbeat “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” – setting the stage for what was to come!
As guests transitioned to the cocktail hour at 4:00 PM, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. The real party kicked off at 5:00 PM with the wedding party’s grand entrance. Taylor and Kyle’s close-knit friends and family were introduced to The Black Eyed Peas, creating an electrifying atmosphere. The newlyweds then made their grand debut as Mr. and Mrs., swaying into the room to Natalie Cole’s “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).”
Their first dance was set to “At Last” by Etta James which was followed by parent dances, and toasts from the Maid of Honor and Best Man so as to keep everyone’s attention and energy flowing until the dance floor opened up.
Having DJed for many weddings of various sizes at Waveny House, I’ve seen what floor plans work and what do not. Shoot me a message if you’re getting married here and we can help work through logistics and planning!
