As a wedding DJ, my job is not only to provide music for the event, but to orchestrate a soundtrack to one of the most memorable days of a couple’s lives. At this Wainwright House wedding for Chris and Rachel, that is exactly what we did – from the string duo playing in the background of cocktail hour, to the epic danceflor that lasted all the way through the after party.
After their church ceremony, the wedding party and guests migrated to the historical Wainwright House for the second half the wedding festivities. As the couple and family snuck off for photos on the lush grounds, the cocktail hour began. Our string duo, comprising of a violinist and cello player, played Disney classics setting the perfect ambiance.
As the cocktail hour wrapped up, guests relocated to the beautiful tented canopy in the Wainwright House garden. With “Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison as their anthem, the couple made their debut to resounding cheers and applause.
After the introduction, we moved into one of the most heartwarming portions of a wedding—the first dance, the father-daughter dance, and the mother-son dance. Each of the three songs were carefully chosen and shortened to a more palatable length length (around one minute) – anything longer feels like an eternity out there!
Once toasts were given and the dinner concluded, it was time for the dance floor to get rolling. Just as it appeared the evening might wind down, the espresso and dessert bar came out for round two. From babies in headphones and tiny flower girls to older family members, everyone was out to cut a rug!
And as the clock ticked 10 pm and the local noise ordinance began, we raged on inside for the after party.
