Ellie and Will were referred to me by a wedding DJ from the Baltimore area for their George Peabody Library wedding. A wedding planner friend of his had a very discerning couple from LA who specifically wanted a DJ who could bring a NYC club vibe and even pair up with a saxophone player. They listened to a few mixes and live wedding recordings, which ended their long pursuit of the perfect match—much to the elation of Brittany Bailey, their planner!

The George Peabody Library is a one-of-a-kind venue, and I don’t say that lightly. I had attended as a guest ten years prior, and it had immediately become a bucket list venue to play at. The hundred-foot-high reception hall surrounds you with rows of bookshelves straight out of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast library!

Their ceremony was held at the front of the hall with a four-string quartet, which followed them into the adjacent lobby for cocktail hour. This was important because no powered sound is allowed in the cocktail hour lobby.

We rolled straight from Ellie and Will’s grand entrance into their first dance, after which we had toasts. During the first course, we played a special dedication to the bride’s grandmother with Elvis’ “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.” The couple wanted a “swanky oldies” vibe during dinner, so we rolled out hits from the Rolling Stones and Van Morrison. We even had a special birthday shout-out for the couple’s 7-year-old niece with Taylor Swift’s “Getaway Car.”

A combined parent dance capped off dinner and jump-started the dance floor with the Hora. Knowing the couple’s love for Flume, we just had to play “The Difference” with live sax accompaniment, as seen in the video below! The dance floor was rowdy all night, so it was a good thing they had an after-party on the docket at the Revival Hotel after we wrapped up.
