This New Years’ Eve Wedding at the Westport Inn was in the works for quite some time, and it certainly delivered. The ceremony was held off-site at a nearby church so it would be all-party by the time guests arrived for the Reception.
A healthy size for a high-energy wedding, we had over 125 guests in attendance. It was also just about perfect for the size of the Westport Inn – any less and the hall would feel empty. You want to keep in mind how well your guest count will fit with the venue that you’re selecting, and not just staying under their maximum capacity. As an extreme example, 50 people at a hall that can fit 400 would be way too spread out and feel as if no one was there!
After cocktail hour, we let guests file in and find their seats before introducing the wedding party, kicking off our spotlight dances. As this was a New Years’ Eve wedding, dinner would be served a little late at 9:30 PM. Toasts wrapped up dinner with the cake cutting signifying the official opening of the dance floor. The only thing left was a garter toss before a midnight countdown and Auld Lang Syne.
Having your reception at The Westport Inn is a great choice to stay local, especially if you have eyes on a New Years’ Eve wedding!
