Reid Castle is found amongst Manhattanville College in the rolling hills of Purchase, NY.
The castle is not gaudy by any means, exuding a more classic atmosphere for those with timeless taste. The ceremony today was held on a large outdoor patio adjacent the castle’s climbing walls. Cocktail hour was held inside an expanded ‘Living Room’ of sorts, complete with antique furniture and an accompanying pianist to set the tone.
Shortly after the Cocktail hour concluded, guests moved inside and we introduced the couple from the balcony up above. With everyone’s attention, we had their first dance to a classic Beauty & The Beast waltz.
Toasts were given towards the end of dinner – Typically the wedding party is served first, this way they can give toasts as the rest of the reception is quietly finishing their meal. Dancing was sprinkled throughout the night for this low-key affair. After feeling out the energy of the room with a few songs, it was clear that guests were there to catch up and mingle as opposed to dance the night away. We’ve learned that it is better to go with your guests, as opposed to fight them with louder music that they don’t want!
