Sara and Matthew wanted a DJ to keep it fun but relaxed during the dinner hour, so everyone can actually talk and carry out conversations, and then crank up the dance music to get everyone out on the dance floor for their September Briarcliff Manor wedding. Precisely in our wheelhouse, we worked together to create the perfect soundtrack for an unforgettable night at the historic Westchester manor.
As Briarcliff Manor is nestled deep in a residential neighborhood, something that is abundantly apparent on your drive to the venue, they had strict sound requirements and rules. Pulled directly from their provided rules document:
Vendors are NOT permitted to play amplified music outdoors due to Town Ordinances- You will be required to plug into House System via aux port.
They also went out of their way to even specify that:
Even once inside, only two speakers are allowed. Absolutely NO subwoofers
As such, I cannot recommend this venue if you plan on having your ceremony on-site, or if you want an especially LOUD / thumping party with much more than 100 guests. As such, their ceremony was held off-site, so we started our part of the evening at the outdoor cocktail hour. We kept the music light and relaxed through the house system as guests mingled and enjoyed the beautiful yet uncharacteristically chilly Westchester evening.
Next, everyone moved into the Briarcliff Manor ballroom to kick off the reception. The wedding party made their entrance to the beats of “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas, straight into their first dance to Elton John’s “Your Song.” Not wasting the moment, we kept everyone’s attention for the father-daughter dance to James Taylor’s “You’ve Got a Friend,” and immediately to the mother-son dance to “All You Need is Love” by The Beatles.
We gave a brief intermission for the waitstaff to flip salads into the first course before shining the spotlight on the best man and maid of honor to give toasts, adding a personal touch by sharing stories and lightly roasting the couple.
Despite the restrictive rules, we were able to adjust the equipment we brought to adequately fit the night, ensuring nothing took away from the vibe that Sara and Matthew were looking for at their Briarcliff Manor wedding.
