This Reid Castle wedding story with Kevin and Veronica starts with a phone call from a wedding DJ from the Baltimore area. Jacob and I have been friends for years, and he had a discerning couple looking for a DJ with a specific style for their wedding—an edgier DJ with deep festival and electronic music roots. After sending Kevin a few mixes, we immediately knew there was a match.
On top of their selective musical taste, they were infatuated with the idea of incorporating a live saxophonist with their DJ, and that’s exactly what we brought to the table. Our saxophonist serenaded guests during cocktail hour and later jumped in during “Dance o’clock” for a more energetic atmosphere.
While they had one hundred seventy guests in attendance, I would not recommend weddings much larger than this. The bar area is a small alcove that becomes difficult to adequately service for so many guests at a time, not to mention making it difficult to maneuver between tables.
Before all of that, however, Kevin and Veronica needed to get hitched! They had a rare combination of an on-site wedding ceremony that was also in a church. Attached to the venue was a chapel where the ceremony was held, and we provided sound support. The other option for ceremonies is the castle-style courtyard adjacent to both the dining room and cocktail hour lounge. This, of course, depends on the time of year and how cold it is—I wouldn’t recommend this past October, and mid-July or August may simply be too hot.
One hundred seventy guests would be a lot for Reid Castle’s reception dining room, but it worked fantastically for the party energy that Kevin and Veronica wanted.
